Tax Calendar for Second Quarter, 2017

Tax Calendar: Individuals, Sole Proprietors, and Farmers

APRIL

Mon 10 TIPS – If you received $20 or more in March, report the total tips to employer. (Form 4070)
Sat 15 Traditional tax filing deadline moved to Tue. because of weekend and DC holiday on Monday.
Tue 18 File your 2016 income tax return and pay any tax due to avoid penalties and interest. (Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ)
  18 File Form 4868 an automatic 6-month extension of time to file. Pay any tax due to avoid penalties and interest.
  18 Estimated Tax Deposit due – Pay first installment of your 2017 estimated tax if not paying through withholding. (Form 1040ES)
18 Household employers – File Schedule H with your Form 1040 if you paid wages of $2,000 or more in 2016 to a household employee.
Tue 18 FBAR yearly filing (FinCEN 114) An extension would be due Oct. 15.


MAY

Mon   1 File your 2016 Virginia income tax return. (VA Form 760)
Wed 10 TIPS – If you received $20 or more in April, report the total tips to employer. (Form 4070)
 

JUNE

Fri 10 TIPS – If you received $20 or more in April, report the total tips to employer. (Form 4070)
Wed 15 Estimated Tax Deposit due – Pay second installment of your 2017 estimated tax if not paying through withholding. (Form 1040ES)

Tax Calendar: Businesses and Employers

APRIL

Tue 18 Corporations file a VA 2016 tax return. (VA Form 500 or 502, if an S-Corp.)
  18 Corporations file a Fed 2016 calendar year tax return and pay any tax due for 2016. (Form 1120)
  18 If the monthly deposit rule applies, deposit the Social Security, Medicare and withheld income tax.
     
Tue 25 Virginia Withholding Tax Report and payment due. (VA-5)


MAY

Mon   1 File payroll tax return for the first quarter of 2017 and make deposits. (Form 941)
    1 Deposit the federal unemployment tax owed through March if more than $500.
Mon 15 If the monthly deposit rule applies, deposit the Social Security, Medicare and withheld income tax.
Thur 25 Virginia Withholding Tax Report and payment due. (VA-5)


JUNE

Thur 15 If the monthly deposit rule applies, deposit the Social Security, Medicare and withheld income tax.
Mon 26 Virginia Withholding Tax Report and payment due. (VA-5)
